[Photo/VCG] MACAO - The government of China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) plans to set up an investment and development fund to support the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the SAR's chief executive Chui Sai-on has said. During a question-and-answer session at the SAR Legislative Assembly Thursday, Chui told Macao's legislative members that there were about 49 projects relating to Macao's participation in the Greater Bay Area set out in the outline development plan for the Greater Bay Area. He said Macao's basic fiscal reserves and surplus reserves amounted to 569.54 billion patacas (about $70.49 billion), while there was 163.25 billion patacas (about $20.20 billion) in foreign exchange reserves at the beginning of 2019, and the government had the financial capability to establish such a fund. The fund would be set up in the second half of 2019, and would be managed by a government-owned entity operating independently of the current structure of public administration. It would be run in accordance with market-led and commercial principles, he added. The chief executive said it was not only a way for improving returns on publicly-held capital and for the benefit of public funds, but also for realizing policy goals mentioned in the Greater Bay Area outline development plan. The Greater Bay Area consists of the Hong Kong SAR, the Macao SAR, as well as nine cities in Guangdong province -- Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing. custom wristbands australia

United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres takes part in the 37th session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Havana, Cuba, May 8, 2018. [Photo/Agencies] UNITED NATIONS -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Sunday condemned the terrorist attacks on worshipers in three churches in Surabaya, Indonesia. The UN chief was appalled at reports that children were used to participate in the attacks, said Guterres' spokesman Stephane Dujarric in a statement. Guterres expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery to those injured. He reiterated the support of the United Nations to the government and people of Indonesia in their efforts to fight and prevent terrorism and violent extremism, including through the promotion of pluralism, moderation and tolerance, said the statement.       An Indonesian Special Forces Police counter-terrorism squad member walks by burned motorcycles following a blast at the Pentecost Church Central Surabaya (GPPS), in Surabaya, Indonesia May 13, 2018. [Photo/Agencies] Suicide bombers who carried out deadly attacks on three churches in Indonesia's second-largest city on Sunday were a family of six that included two young children, police said, as the world's most populous Muslim nation recoiled in horror at one of the worst attacks on its Christian minority. At least 13 people, including all six family members, died in the attacks in Surabaya and at least 41 were injured, according to police, in acts that Indonesia's president condemned as barbaric. The bombings were the worst to target churches in Indonesia since a series of attacks on Christmas Eve in 2000 killed 15 people and wounded nearly 100. Religious minorities in Indonesia, especially Christians, have been repeatedly targeted by militants.
